Make Money Blogging – Part 2

24 Jun

Second part of our guide to the world of online blogging will discuss most of the neccesary activities every beginning blogger should consider.

Good Domain Name

It may sound stupid, but the truth is you may be finished before you even start, if you pick wrong domain name. Let’s sum up a few points you should follow when choosing it:

  • Name related to your niche,
  • short and good to remember,
  • if your desired name is not free, alter it a little or change it completely.

One small thing – if you can, choose a domain that ends on .com or .net. To provide an easy explanation why, let’s just say that those tend to be more competitive and successful.

For more curious readers, first learn about SEO and then read on why .com or .net might help a little.

Web Hosting

If you want to have a successful blog, you will have a lot of visitors, sooner or later. Having a good hosting, capable of handling maybe thousands of visits every day is often ignored aspect.

Let’s say you’re used to have like 50 visits per day and then, suddenly, one of your stories manages to become popular on Digg. Thousands of people want to come and read your article and ooops - your website crashes...

Graphic Design

I really hate everything related to drawing or design, I can hardly recognize more than 12 colors and basically, I can draw 1 thing – a stylized house with a tree and the sun above it.

Nevertheless, I realize that if my website was looking ugly or like a MySpace profile of some 14 years old girl, it wouldn’t make me a dime. Choosing a good web design is very important, do not underestimate it.

That’s it, we’re done for now and in the third part, we’ll talk about the best part – monetizing your blog. Follow us on Twitter so that you won’t miss the next article!
